About Dr. Annis Stubbs

Dr. Annis Stubbs is the founder and CEO of The Papyrus Group, a human capital firm offering executive coaching, talent and people systems consulting, and executive search. She has also served as board chair and chief executive of a Michigan logistics company. Her work sits where leadership, people, and equity meet.

For two decades, Dr. Stubbs has led inside mission-driven organizations. She served as Chief People Officer at Teach For America, along with roles as Senior Vice President of Leadership and Diversity, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Innovation, and founding Executive Director of TFA Detroit. Earlier in her career she led work at The New Teacher Project, Columbia University, and Sylvan Learning Centers. Across all of it, she has built the coaching, culture, and talent systems that help leaders and teams do their best work.

She is a researcher as well as a practitioner. Dr. Stubbs earned her Ph.D. at Michigan State University in its top-ranked program in Curriculum, Teaching, and Educational Policy. She also holds a master's from Fordham University and a bachelor's in English and Education. She is an Aspen Institute Fellow and a Resnick Scholar, and she has held scholarly leadership roles in the American Educational Research Association.

Her work has been recognized by Crain's Business, the Michigan Women's Leadership in the Workplace Council, and The Michigan Chronicle. She has spoken at the Clinton Global Initiative, the University of Michigan Revitalization and Business Conference, and Techonomy. She believes in personalized support, honest feedback, and growth from the inside out.

Away from work, Annis loves to travel, practice yoga, and get lost in epic novels. She spends weekends walking Michigan's Great Lakes shores with her husband and their dog.
